A humanoid figure starts standing upright with feet together and arms at its sides in a neutral pose. The character suddenly drops low by bending both knees deeply while simultaneously swinging both arms down between the legs like a coiled spring gathering energy. Then explosively the figure launches upward into an aerial cartwheel—pushing off hard from both feet while throwing the arms overhead, then as the body leaves the ground it rotates sideways through the air with legs splitting wide in an inverted V position and hands reaching toward the imaginary ground. During the airborne rotation the torso twists so the character faces perpendicular to the original direction at the apex of the flip. As gravity takes effect the figure prepares for landing by extending the legs downward and positioning feet to contact the ground first—one foot touching down while the other leg continues its arc through the air. Upon impact both knees bend deeply to absorb the force while arms swing forward counterbalancing the momentum until stability is regained in a crouched position that gradually straightens back to normal standing height with arms returning to rest at the sides facing a completely new direction from where the character started.
